We've stayed in Recoleta a couple times. It's definitely the posh neighborhood. Very nice and sure to keep you all happy. The last time we were there, we stayed in San Telmo. A much older working class area with a lot funky old buildings. Some people consider the area dangerous after dark, but we were there a whole month and never once felt threatend. It's definitley not as clean and affluent as Recoleta, but I'm not of the school that thinks just because somebody is poor they are dangerous. We wanted something different and got it. We were going to pay a lot of money to put the 12 year old in the American School. After watching your post, I'm having second thoughts. I like the idea of the freedom to see the rest of BsAs on our own schedule. Don't know if I have the patience or discipline to "home school" a 12 year old. But I think we are going to hire a private tutor who will. Look us up in BsAs when you go down again.
