Having travelled for years around the world I have met many amazing people and had hundreds of great experiences and only a handful of bad ones. Maybe you've been sucked in by the world media which is owned by a handful of zealots and only enjoys spreading fear and suspicion. I often find myself in countries that are on 'no-go' lists of foreign embassies which are no doubt compiled by people sitting behind desks all year round. Never have these places been threatening or dangerous to visit unless you go looking for trouble. In my experience if you use a bit of common sense and are polite and genuine then locals will generally look after you and you will get great deals and make new and potentially lifelong friendships.
