Kitchen Hack: Flexible Cutting Boards

Flexible Cutting Boards

From the land of “stuff that exceeds your expectations”. We bring you the flexible cutting board.Frankly, this wafer thin little devil whoops our beefy wooden cutting board’s ass.

First, it’s dirt cheap and indestructible. Plus, you can roll it up into a funnel shape and pour your chopped up goodies right into the pan. Say goodbye to balancing a heavy wooden board while scraping half your onions into a pan and half all over the stove top.

Finally, when you’re done, just toss it in the dishwasher and it’s all squeeky clean and sanitized for your next use. All this for less than $3.00, such a bargain. We buy ours by the four pack. That’s just how we roll.

That’s so funny! I was just telling a friend of mine about my new cutting boards. I found these at the Dollarama for $1 a piece. Take two, they’re cheap!

I especially love bending the cutting board and funneling the cut food into the pan. It’s so much easier than the alternative.

How does it treat the edges of sharp knives? That is a very important issue that I did not see addressed either on the Amazon website, nor on yours. Dull knives are a pain!

    Keith,

Like you, I’m a stickler for a sharp knife. So far, I’ve been very pleased with the way the surface of the flexible cutting mats treat our good knives. What cutting surface do you like best?

    Best,
    Michael

I imagine you could also roll one up to smack a snarky child with? Not that I - ever, you know - would do that…

    Lela,

Damn right! They make a terrific “whomp” sound when bounced of the forehead of our whiny offspring. Plus, they don’t leave a mark. Gotta love that.

Finally, we love your blog. You are absolutely snarktastic. Keep it up. We’ll be reading.

    Best,
    Michael & Hannah

We snagged a couple of these at ikea and I love ‘em! Especially nice for being able to funnel diced stuff into a mixing bowl or a skillet. And far easier to store than a traditional cutting board too!

Thanks a lot for your comment on Family Hack. We’re glad you liked the site. We’ve got a slew of needy knives in our kitchen so you can be sure we’ll be dropping a few bucks over at Northern Tool.
